In Herman’s 2nd chapter of Tramma and Recovery He talks about how Psychological trauma can be something that can cause a lot of damage. Through all of the things we do, there can be a form of trauma that comes from the events in our lives. Soliders today have had an overwhelming problem with a symptom called PTSD from their actions in war. One moment they are living a regular life and then they are departed into an unknown land. They have to fight for what they believe is right and see those close to them pass away in combat. After their duty has been served they are forced back into society and are expected to start back where they last left off. A quote from Herman states, “Reliving a trauma may offer an opportunity for mastery, but most surveyors do not consciously seek or welcome the opportunity. Rather, they dread and fear it” (herman, 42). Trauma is something that is hard to relive due to all the memories and emotions tied to it. However facing those things are helpful in the end scheme of things.
