Artavius Veasey Post #7: Church

After reading this weeks section from the book I found the chapter on Church quite comical and interesting. It opens up with the guys coming across this almost abandoned pagoda over somewhere west of the Batangan Peninsula. They come across these monks that were so nice to them but they didnt speak English at all. After a couple of days the guys really got comfortable being at this church with these over nice monks that dont speak English. So one morning Dobbins and Kiowa was talking as they were doing their daily job routine, cleaning their guns.Then out of the blue Dobbins confessed that one day after the war and stuff is over he's thinking about becoming a monk. Then Dobbins and Kiowa was going back and forth on the reasoning but what I found quite interesting was that a guy of war and killing people wants to become a monk after war was over with. Dobbins later states how he like the fact of always being nice to people and helping when he can. I know that's not suppose to be funny but it just caught me off guard that a army man want to be a monk.
