Artavius Veasey Post #9: Foer: Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close

After reading the first few pages and pretty much getting an pinion on how I feel the book will go kind of got me at a lost. I come to realize that the narrator name is Oskar and he's mentally challenged. Right off the back and only a couple pages in the book I knew this book will be a challenge to read. The way Oskar expresses himself and his thoughts are very confusing, but in some parts of the novel it shows that that is the way Oskar deals with his trauma. I will say that its interesting as a reader to be able to look at stuff from his perspective and get in his head to figure out how his brain works. I also noticed early in the book that Oskar be in and out of it sometimes. For example on page 2 first paragraph he states,

"And also, there are so many times when you need to make a quick escape, but humans don't have their own wings, or not yet, anyway, so what about a birdseed shirt?"

From there I just knew this will be one of those novels that will do a lot of back and forth, flash backs and flash forwards and things of that nature. Cant wait to see what happens next with Oskar and how he explains it.
